I'd forgotten how relaxing it is!

In 1979 my husband (then fiance) left for Finland for a two year mission for our church.  The day after he left, I started to crochet this bedspread.  It took me six months to complete as obviously I didn't work on it non stop.  For many years it was on our bed, but it has now been brought out of storage and adorns the bed in our guest room.  I have done the odd small crochet project throughout the years, but nothing of this scale.  As I have been working on the baby blanket I have remembered not only how relaxing crochet is, but how wonderful the item
feels in your hands as it grows!  It's amazing what you can create out of a ball of wool!  This bedspread will be a family heirloom.  So I guess with three children, I'd better start making some more stuff!  Time to leaf through the patterns for the next project after the blanket.

Have a lovely day!

  2. Hello!
You're a new girl. Welcome welcome! I'm a year in now and have learnt heaps so if you have any questions I'm happy to help, though by the looks of it your are preety good with this techy stuff. Your blog looks cute already.

I adore your crochet blanket, it is adorable, how lovely that you kept it. My Mum chucked all her hand made stuff from the 60's and 70's and I'm sad about that. So much of it I would have loved.
