It feels like forever since I wrote on my blog, but in actual fact it's only been a litle over a week! I feel there's been little to write about actually. My shoulder has become gradually worse and has turned into full blown frozen shoulder. I have never experienced pain quite like this and it is debilitating to say the least! I am seeing a specialist on Tuesday so we will see what he recommends. From all I've learned about this, it is a process that the body has to go through and it takes time. I am in the acute or freezing stage right now and that is the most painful (tell me something I don't know already!!) There is some eveidence that a cortisone shot may help, but I am not convinced of that yet. We'll see what happens on Tuesday.
Why the roses? Just because it's February and we are in need of some warmer weather! Wendell was in Toronto for most of last week, which meant that it dragged. I was so happy to see him on Friday! We both needed a hug by then!
I have been reading my usual blogs though, even though I may not have written myself. Hope everyone in England is coping with the wet weather there. The poor folks down south have been blasted pretty badly! Hurry up Spring!

I am sorry to hear that things have worsened rather than improved Julie, I do pray that the consultant can give you some better news and treatment options when you see him. Having Wendell away probably made it worse as you have less to distract you and occupy your mind when you are in the quieter times at home alone, so I hope that he will keep your cheer up this week now he is back - I am sure he will!!
ReplyDeleteKeep taking care of yourself and know that we are thinking of you over here in England. xx
Wendell being away did cause the week to drag, but I was able to cope on my own. Thankfully I can do many things still, just have to be careful about raising that right arm. Thanks for all your good wishes Amy - it means a lot!
DeleteJulie I really do hope things improve soon for you. I have heard a couple of people swear by the cortisone injections but I do know it can be a long process. I have been thinking of you this week, are you still going to Ocean View next weekend? I hope you get some sort of respite. I thought you were going to say the roses were an early Valentine gift from Wendell, but its nice that our husbands dont need Valentines as an excuse to buy us flowers, Tony came home with a lovely bunch for me this morning.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, look after yourself, rest up and do plenty of reading (I know you probably will anyway!).Lots of love, Anne
We cancelled Ocean Park Anne. Partly because of weather, partly because of my not feeling great and partly so as to save money for the other vacations this year. We are trying to simplify this year. You're right, this is a long process and I need to let my body go through it - the pain won't be forever (just feels like that sometimes!)
DeleteI have suffered that in the past. Cortisone shots did help, but what was important was that I had to use the arm as much s possible, despite the pain. I hope your specialist will offer help.
ReplyDeleteMy Mum had this when I was younger. Now I can appreciate what she went through! I am trying to do as much as I can with my arm, but my doctor doesn't want me doing anything which causes pain at the moment. Phase one is all about managing the pain. I am a little nervous about cortisone to be honest as I know it can damage the joint down the road. DId you suffer any adverse effects Elizabeth?
DeleteSo sorry to hear about your shoulder and the pain you are experiencing. I hurt my shoulder a few years ago, it took ages to get better even with better physio. I hope this doesn't stop you from you planned Valentine's trip to the ocean. Sarah x
ReplyDeleteWe actually did cancel our Valentine trip to the ocean Sarah, but there's always another time to do that. We will be going in August and October as usual. Thanks for the good wishes and say Hi to the Atlantic for me, from a distance though, as I wouldn't want you to get too close with all that's happening in your area!
DeleteSorry that your shoulder is so bad and that you are in so much pain. I do hope that it heals as quickly as possible. Look after yourself as much as you can, and take things easy. You deserve to treat yourself a little I think!
ReplyDeleteI am trying to move the arm as much as I can, but I do admit, that I am taking things a little easier than normal. Thanks for your warm wishes CJ.
DeleteFrozen shoulder is an awful thing to have. I hope the doctor is able to sort it out for you.
ReplyDeleteThank you Kristie. "This too shall pass". All things give us experience and are for our growth is the long run aren't they.
DeleteI hope your shoulder is better soon, Julie. That sounds really painful. Take care, and have a good week.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your good wishes Jennifer. I had a cortisone shot yesterday so hopefully that will help.
DeleteI hope you are feeling better Julie, and that the visit to the specialist has brought some respite from the pain.
ReplyDeleteTime will tell Scarlet. I did have a cortisone shot but it will take a few days to see any effects. Fingers crossed!
DeleteSorry your shoulder hasn't improved yet but hopefully your specialist will be able to help out. I used to hate John going on business trips and couldn't wait until he came home - even for a few days. Hope you enjoy Valentine's day.
ReplyDeletePatricia x
Thank you Patricia. I did end up getting a cortisone shot on Tuesday and am feeling some gradual relief. It will still take time, but at least the pain is easing somewhat.
